Our wellbeing theme at Quintilian throughout May is Empathy.
As many of you already know, we care about wellbeing – the wellbeing of our teachers, our families and our students. Our Wellbeing Coordinator, Kirsty, assists the whole school with activities and lessons that inspire conversations and learnings on various wellbeing topics.
One program we partner with is the URStrong Friendship Program, an internationally recognised friendship program that empowers children with the skills, language, and self-confidence to be better friends and develop healthier relationships.
This is a whole-school strategy embraced by Quintilian, which creates a culture of kindness and is based on the belief that children with healthy friendships perform better academically, have higher self-esteem, get involved in more leadership roles, and make smarter decisions in future relationships.
During May, the focus will be on Friendship is…Empathy. Quintilian students will explore empathy, or the ability to understand how another person is feeling. Within friendship, teaching children how to carefully consider another person’s feelings helps them strengthen their relationships and develop a deeper sense of self.
You can read more about the importance of empathy in this blog post featured on the URStrong website.
