Early Learning Pre-Kindy

At Quintilian, we embrace the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), focusing on the essential elements of Belonging, Being and Becoming. Our approach is centred on recognising and responding to the individuality of every student, fostering warm and caring relationships between staff and children.

Education at Quintilian is not just a process; it’s an enjoyable experience for all children. We recognise the significance of early childhood learning as the foundation for future educational endeavours. Our belief is that childhood is a precious time to be valued and enjoyed. We place high importance on children’s play, understanding that play-based learning environments are optimal for engaging and educating young minds. Your child’s social and emotional development is at the forefront of our programme and play is the primary vehicle for learning.

Through small class sizes, we offer a warm, nurturing home-like environment where children feel comfortable to explore their curiosity and make new discoveries.

Early Learning Pre-Primary

Pre-Primary is the first year of official, full-time schooling. Your child will spend more ‘awake’ time at school during the week than at home and, therefore, it is important for school to feel like a second home to them. Quintilian is a place where our children feel confident to be curious, to explore, take risks and express their feelings safely.

Middle Primary

In the middle years of primary school, children consolidate skills across academics, social awareness, and creativity. Technology is integral, with smartboards, iPads, and touch typing introduced. Physical development is emphasised, alongside teamwork and movement skills.

French begins in Year 3, incorporating culture and language. Sustainability initiatives foster global awareness. Creativity thrives through arts and music, with private lessons offered in various instruments.

These years provide a balanced education, nurturing growth in all areas. At Quintilian, we create a supportive and engaging environment where children are encouraged to explore, develop confidence, and reach their full potential.

Upper Primary

In Quintilian’s upper primary years, students refine their skills to prepare for secondary education. Core subjects like Mathematics and Literacy are taught in flexible groups to provide both support and extension, with many students excelling beyond primary-level expectations and securing scholarships or placements in academic extension programs.

English develops high-level oral and written skills, with a focus on comprehension and quality literature. Students can participate in ICAS competitions across multiple subjects. Specialist teachers lead Music, French, and Library sessions, while physical education extends beyond regular lessons to include various team sports and IPSHAA carnivals.

Camps play a key role in fostering independence, culminating in a seven-night Year 6 trip to the Kimberley. Older students take on leadership responsibilities, including a ‘Buddy’ system to mentor younger peers.

A diverse range of co-curricular clubs enriches student life, including Art, Choir, Band, Coding, Theatre Sports, Gardening, and Academic Enrichment. These opportunities ensure well-rounded development, preparing students for future success.
