Dear Parents,
Thank you to the many families who recently travelled to Rottnest Island for our Quintilian Family Camp. The weather threatened to make things interesting; however, this did not eventuate, and everyone enjoyed a fabulous weekend.
The iconic Quokka Hunt was very exciting, and I wish to thank our Deputy Principal, Rebecca Potts, for her organisation of this event. A special thank you also to our staff, Board members and former students who travelled to Rottnest and dressed up in various costumes. Their commitment to our school and this event is very much appreciated.
Rottnest Dates 2023 are from Friday 12 – Sunday 14 May. Rottnest Island takes booking reservations 9 months in advance, therefore I encourage everyone to place a reminder in their calendar for September this year to book your accommodation for 2023.
I recently read an article on positive thinking and I was reminded of how Mahatma Gandhi believed positive thinking influences our actions and outcomes when he said:
“Keep your thoughts positive because your thoughts become YOUR WORDS
Keep your words positive because your words become YOUR BEHAVIOUR
Keep your behaviour positive because your behaviour becomes YOUR HABITS
Keep your habits positive because your habits become YOUR VALUES
Keep your values positive because your values become YOUR DESTINY.”
In these current times of some stress and uncertainty, it can be difficult to remain positive, but perhaps we need it now more than ever.
Semester One reports will be coming out before the end of term. You may notice some changes to the student reports. Teachers will comment on and grade English, Mathematics and general performance, with student performance for other subjects indicated by grades and outcomes. This is in line with the Education Department’s practices.
Best wishes,
Principal Neil
